My magazine design

I think that one of the most important things to consider when designing a music magazine is which celebrity I would use on my front cover. This is because they will be the first thing that you would see, therefore I need to ensure that I choose somebody that is well known and in most cases well liked. I would personally choose somebody like Ariana Grande as she has and still is being talked about regularly via social media. This would be great with helping to advertise my magazine as this would begin the two step flow, resulting in the magazine/product being talked about more via social networks. As being a new star I think that she should be wearing something very arresting so that the readers would be engaged in reading about this new singer and what she is all about. Also the colours that are used can be just as equally important. Each colour can have different meanings and you get different feelings from each one. As the cover of my magazine is based around a new star coming into the social spotlight I would make sure I use bright and neutral colours so that I can create a soft but striking design to the front cover.

I will also have to use a simplistic but bright colour scheme (I could even consider using Christmas colours, depending on the time of year). What also would be a really clever way of making my magazine look professional would be to match the clothes of the model to the colour scheme that I have chosen on the front cover.

 

The 10 article ideas I have for my magazine are:

·         Article about Ariana Grande’s new single and interview with the magazine just so the readers can get to know this girl who just keeps popping up in the social media.

·         Exclusive low down on x-factor finalists so that the people enjoying the country’s biggest singing competition are able to have the exclusivity of finding out about the finalists first.

·         MTV music awards 2014: results of awards, who got what, was there any controversy?

·         Competition to go and see Sam Smith live in London with the release of his new album ‘Stay with me’

·         Holly G Shore tells us about her new single and why she has chosen to branch out in career.

·         Boy bands One Direction and The Wanted are coming together to do a Christmas collaboration and they are aiming for the top spot.

·         Radio one’s Christmas number 1 spot predictions.

·         Swedish house mafia final interview before the band splits and goes their separate ways.

·         MIKA’s re-appearance just in time for Christmas (releases a new Christmas album after he had not released any music for 3 years)

This was the first homework we had to produce for the corse. My ideas on here are very different to what i have choose for my magazine. This was because i choose a genre that i was more familar with.

Introduction Post!

Mood Board

As you can see this is my blog, and I'm charlotte, hi! This is my AS Media blog where i will be posting regular progress updates, leading up to the design and evaluation of my final product. I will be using this blog so i can track and update all of my research and ideas through out the year. The image above is my mood board. This has been created so that i can express my ideas, for the design of my magazine. From the picture you will be able to see that the focus of the magazine is EDM style music. The final product will consist of a front cover, contents page and a two page spread, which will have to include my own story for the two page spread and several different photos which i will have to personally take. 

The mood board on a whole has gave me many ideas on things that i could include or put on my magazine. I now know the type of fashion and colors that are regularly associated with EDM music which has gave me many ideas of the type of clothes that my model should wear during the photo shoot. Basically I'm thrilled to continue with the research of my magazine. - C
